So... got some good news and bad news. First off, let's get the bad outta the way... it looks like it's gonna take forever to ever again see my photos and stuff from the past 4 years, because our computer's harddrive is officially fried. And for whatever reason, we can't find a single place that does data recall so we can fix it. UGH! But on the bright side, not all is lost since we found a backup from 2011. Still... got a lot of important things missing that I kind of badly need access to, so it sucks monkeybutts.
ANYWAYS, shoving that crap aside, now for the good stuff: as folks might've noticed months ago, I changed my dA icon and the title beneath my username. Also did a massive overhaul of my Tumblr account, in case anyone didn't know about that. One of the major reasons for this - in the past few months I've intensely rekindled my passion for "One Piece". It's always been one of my top fave series, but back when I started fanning hard over Homestuck (and cosplaying a lot from it), I sort of stupidly put OP on the backburner of my mind and got waaay out of the loop on it. Rather ashamed now, mostly because here I'd been a big fan of OP since it first came to the US and then... kind of suddenly dropped it in favor of the "new flavor" (Homestuck). I mean, I still love HS a lot and won't stop (even after being burned from drama in the local fandom groups), but to have abandoned one of my greatest passions? I feel like a tremendous dolt over it. One Piece is special to me, and along with Yu-Gi-Oh, one of the few series that've helped me endure difficult times in my life through things I learned from the hardships and emotional struggles the characters have faced or overcome. And it's also the only series in which I've discovered characters that I resonate strongly with and can relate to personally, unlike other series I've been fond of. I honestly mean that, and it's one of the reasons my love for OP has grown stronger while I've been catching up on all I've missed (and in a grand way, too; literally spent over a week binge-watching anime eps from where I left off). Also... despite recent bouts of feeling depressed over various IRL things (and making a few emo posts on Facebook and Tumblr as a result... horribly sorry about that), my zeal for cosplay has been set ablaze due to falling in love with One Piece again. I've already planned some great cosplays to work on in the coming year, some of them being the 3 characters from OP that I relate to (Bepo, Chopper, and Rosinante "Corazon" Donquixote). Most awesome of all is that one of those (Chopper), which has been on my wish list for a long time, is now 70% complete and I've even worn it to several events. Yay for trying harder to squash procrastination on projects! LOL. And something that's added even more joy in my life recently on top of all that, there's now a Facebook group for OP cosplayers living in the northwest (simply called "Pac-NW One Piece Cosplayers"
), run by a very talented friend (the gal behind "Demytasse Cosplay"
). Feels so good to be a part of such an awesome fandom family...
